Caffeinated Compound
I went to dunk my head in the park. Coffee granules had settled mistily on my skin and my eyes needed a green cleanse after eye-balling polystyrene cups all day. Once I was under, I tried to eat the air. It was crisp but I’d been so warm for so long, it would take a while to penetrate. Besides, there was a layer of coffee granules and boredom to get through. I lazily ambled inwards, not bothering to avoid puddles. One half of young professional couples had been coming in all day, ordering for the both of them. History and affection tied up in a caffeinated compound. Coupla cappuccinos. Half a sugar in each. How evenly matched. Double espresso and a chai latte. Do you want anything to eat? Sophie? Do you want anything to eat? No! She shouts. From the exterior. As she half heartedly scrambles for her mask. I’m in the inside of the belly of it now. It’s barked breath on my warm cheeks. Woody and wet and crisp and fresh. Autumn creaking into view. Leaping leaf by leaf into existence. Time to shed. Time to wait. Time to drop down to the muddy bed and decompose. Time to float on the wings of air through the bending branches. Time to go. Time to grow. Time to unfold again. Coupla cappuccinos. Dunking briefly. Breathing out, creating smile shaped bubbles in the air of, it’s all pleasant, it’s amicable and calm. Exertion invisible to the naked eye, but my fully clothed sight lines see the granules and the couples and the caffeinated compounds go up in clouds of smoke. Puff. Puff. Up. Past the falling leaves that slice them through the middle. Past the bending branches and lofty unknowing nature. Past Ally Pally terrace and tower. Dissipating as it leaves earth. Laughing as it lands, two footed and bent knees on the moon.
