That person in the park criticising people in the park
It’s always like this these days. It’s just people just people isn’t it everywhere when really trees really should be there should be more of but the people are just planted everywhere standing chatting with roots running underneath them I wonder if they know they’re touching they’re touching through the roots wind carrying breath around and over faces like stars in their eyes, your eyes it’s just despicable hate to say that word I really do my mother used to say about the local council when they started putting up those 20 story blocks she would say despicable insight don’t they know it’s not safe it doesn’t make any sense for human beings to be stacked on top of each other like that like jenga it only takes one wrong move and it all comes down one of their moves gone wrong and down down down everything would come. Despicable she would say that’s what she would say to this all these people standing near each other almost touching touching through the ground hands wrapped around polystyrene coffees trying to squeeze every droplet of joy out of every word every glance every laugh to laugh what it would mean to laugh into the depths like we used to and not like the laughter that is in spite of something but because of something that is huge and joyful and free and expansive and limitless everyone is holding onto their laughter because it kills the harder you laugh the more you kill so everyone is tight lipped touching through the roots barely smiling lucky if you’re smiling reckless if you’re smiling hellos are fatal hellos strike down everyone in the radius of the mouth take a compass draw a the curve see you take out so everyone purses their lips and sucks from the teet of the coffee cup controversially holding onto their coffee cup their essential coffee cup they don’t need it they don’t need the coffee nobody needs a coffee she wouldn’t believe it if she saw it all the stopping and standing they should be at home stop touching each other stop touching each other touching touching touching touching stay at home and touch each other. Can you hold my coffee?
